- Build a freshwater farm plan to help meet compliance requirements
- Identify areas where there is risk to fresh water i.e. slope, effluent run-off, unfenced waterways
- Create actions to mitigate the risk
- Record completed actions
- Print and share the plan

More about freshwater farm plans
The implementation of freshwater farm plans in New Zealand helps foster sustainable agricultural practices and safeguard the health of local waterways and the broader water ecosystem. Healthy fresh water supports healthy communities, a healthy environment, and a healthy economy.
Fresh water quality in New Zealand has been declining due to impacts from urban development, agriculture, horticulture, and forestry. Introduction of freshwater farm plans is aimed at reducing the impact of farming on the fresh water environment and to improve water quality.
A freshwater farm plan is a requirement for farming enterprises that are 20 hectares or more (arable and/or pastoral use), or 5 hectares or more (horticultural use). While some regions are still shaping their requirements, many farms are actively creating plans.
Meet your fresh water requirements today with the FWFP.
